Sixth-plate ambrotype with color added; man seated, from waist up,3/4 profile to left, looking past camera to left, hair parted on side with modified wave on top and slight curl on forehead to right, cut below ear level, full moustache and long goatee, standing frock coat collar with insignia tinted gold, double breasted frock coat, closed at neck and draping open down front, twelve buttons visible tinted gold, dark vest underneath, white shirt collar visible, right arm by side, bent at elbow, Hungarian braid on sleeve tinted gold, left arm at side, bent at elbow, Hungarian braid tinted gold; double elliptical-style embossed gilt mat,preserver stamped with foliate pattern; case is leather-covered wood, embossed with scroll and central cross medallion on obverse and reverse covers; obverse interior cover lined in faded velvet; obverse and reverse case sections held together with black cloth tape; brass hook and eye in tact; |
