Description |
Photographic print: black and white gelatin or salt print of an elderly African-American male standing in front of a group, wearing veteran uniform coat covered in medals and ribbons. He has short white hair and a white mustache and goatee. A light colored collared shirt and dark tie is visible. His coat is buttoned to the neck. A boy stands to the left, eating. Two older black men are standing behind the subjectto the right. They are wearing hats and dark suits. The man closest to the subject has a ribbon/badge barely visable on his right lapel. Three other men are standing behind the subject to the left, one is not visible except for his hat. The middle man's face is not distinguishable and the man to the farthestmost left is white and wearing a conductor's hat and is obviously smiling. The back is inscribed "R.E. Lee's cook." in pencil. 4" x 2 1/2". Stamped in purple ink is: "Made by / Sou. Photo Material Co., / Kodak / Headquarters, / 72 N. Broad St., Atlanta, Ga." |
