Flag of an unidentified unit. Captured during a raid on the Macon and Atlanta Railroad, Georgia, July 29, 1864 by Gen. Edward M. McCook's 1st Cavalry Division. "Captured by the 1st Cav. Division, Department of the Cumberland, raid on Macon and Atlanta railroad, July 29th 1864. Inscribed: 'our Country and our rights' " (from "Record of Rebel Flags Captured by Union Troops After April 19, 1861", National Archives, RG 94) This flag design was one pattern considered as the Confederate National flag, following the (unsuccessful) adoption of the First National flag pattern.
