Letter from State of Maryland to honourable John Buchanon, Chief Judge of the Fifth Judicial District. Letter orders special commission for trial of four negroes charged with starting a slave insurrection near Frederick, Maryland. The Insurrection could be a part of British movements in VA and MD during the spring and summer of 1814. Slaves could have seen opportunity to revolt or were encouraged by British officials. |
