Notes	A label found in the Purse-Melton collection but not attached to any particular photograph reads: "'Julie's' sister 'Ella' who died at 16. I have her book of poetry here." This was written by "Julie's" granddaughter, Mary "Mamie" Pindar Simpson. This photograph has been tentatively identified as Ella Purse because it is from the correct time period based on her birth and death dates, 1844-1860, and based on the photographic technology of around 1859-1860. The young woman in this picture appears to be around 15 or 16.
