Capt. David Norvell Walker, commanding Otey's Battery, which was part of Gibbe's Battalion, First Corps Artillery, Army of Northern Virginia, commanded by Brig. Gen. W. N. Pendleton. Walker, born in 1832, was a member of the Richmond City Guard in 1861 and elected captain in early 1862. In March he enlisted in the Otey Battery as a 1st lieutenant. At the death of Capt. George Gaston Otey, he was promoted to captain. Walker was paroled at Appomattox on April 9, 1865 with "one horse commanding the 13th VA Batt. Lt. Arty." |
