An early daguerreotype and a wartime ambrotype document the life of Confederate soldier John Hunter. Too little is known about these images to determine which of the several John Hunters in the Confederate army these photographs depict, but it could be (1) Lt. John Hunter, Jr., a University of Virginia student who served in Capt. Carrington's Co., Virginia Light Artillery (Charlottesville Artillery); he survived the war to become a prominent lawyer in Louisa County, Virginia. |
