Ninth-plate ambrotype with applied color; postmortem portrait; set in a chair, waist up, hair parted to the side, eyes closed, cheeks tinted pink, full beard; wearing double-breasted uniform frock coat, buttoned with eight buttons visble, tinted gold, right arm bent at elbow and resting across waist, object placed behind right wrist, possibly flowers; oval-style plain gilt mat; preserver with stamped floral motif; case is leather-covered wood with embossed scroll and medallion on exterior obverse and reverse cases; interior obverse case has faded red velvet lining with embossed foliate motif; brass hook and eye in tact; obverse and reverse case halves are detached from eachother; |
