Sixth-plate ambrotype with applied color, man seated, facing camera, looking at camera, hair parted on side, cut at mid-ear, clean shaven; cheeks and lips tinted pink, turned-down collar, horizontal necktie slightly assymetrical, ends tinted pink, light color, checked pattern, wide lapel, double-breasted vest, frock coat with wide, notched lapels and velvet collar, handkerchief visible in right frock-coat pocket, top of trousers visible, both hands in lap; gilt nonpareil mat stamped in lower proper right corner "Powers"; perserver stamped with simple foliate scroll; case is leather-covered, embossed on obverse and reverseembossed with floral medallion; obverse interior [cover] lined with red velvet, embossed with foliate scroll; |
