Description |
Ninth-plate ambrotype on ruby glass with applied color. Head shot, woman, head slightly angled right, face turned left to camera, looking at camera, hair parted down center, side wings smoothed back at ears with hair hanging down neck in a net, edges of a bow in hair visible on left side, dangle earrings, possibly of jet and pearl, top of collar, possibly lace, visible. Oval-style metal mat with beaded embossing around frame opening, brown velvet pad. Plain leather-covered case, embossed edging, with button latch and brass hinges in the spine. |
