Sixth-plate daguerreotype with applied color, of a young girl standing, hands in front of body; facing camera, hair held back with headband,wearing a dress [?] with collar and cuffs visible under a jacket with long sleeves, double row of buttons down front of jacket; pleated plain skirt, necklace is gilded, color applied to lips and cheeks; mat is gilded oval with sandy finish; preserver is stamped with a simple leaf pattern; discoloration, case is leather covered wood, cover and base are mismatched, and are detached; cover has embossed floral and scroll pattern on leather, and braded gilt inside edge, indside cover is lined with red velvet with embssed flower and scroll work, lid has two eyes for hook closures; base is embossed with simple fig leaf medallion with edging of floral scroll pattern, one hook on base is broken off; |
