Description |
Sixth-plate ambrotype on ruby glass with accent tinting. Man seated in civilian dress, waist up, head turned slightly to the left, looking at camera, hair parted on side, curly, cut at ear length, modified wave on top, clean shaven, cheeks and lips tinted pink, dimpled chin, white starched collar turned down, wide horizontal necktie, starched shirt front, stud tinted gold, watch chain visible hanging from vest on left, coat has wide lapels, with handkerchief in breast pocket on left. Oval-style embossed gilt mat with "POWERS" etched along lower left edge. Red velvet pad intact with embossed fern motif in door section, embossed leather-covered case with flora, bird and urn motif, brass latches and latch hooks intact. |
