Sixth-plate ambrotype with applied color, man seated, 3/4 to the right, looking at camera, wearing kepi with gold tinted palmetto insignia; clean shaven, in single-breasted uniform frock coat with shoulderboards, insignia on collar, and brades on collar; right hand resting on table holding sword; left hand resting in lap; sleeve braid, shoulder boards, collar insignia, buckle and sword all tinted gold; oval gilt mat with embossed scroll motif; preserver has foliate scroll motif; embossed red felt pad with floral motif intact in interior obverse section; , white label with number 384 printed on it glued to bottom right of velvet pad; case is leather-covered wood, with centra medallion surrounded by scroll pattern on both obverse and reverse exterior sections; two brass hooks and eyes are in tact; |
