Sixth-plate ambrotype with accent tinting; man from waist up, facing camera, looking at camera; hair parted on side, wispy beard and moustache; cheeks and lips tinted pink; wearing single-breasted shell jacket, standing collar, buttoned, six buttons visible, tinted gold, shoulder tabs, insignia tinted gold; oval gilt mat with embossed scrolled foliate spandrels; preserver is stamped with simpel scroll design; interior obverse [cover] is lined in faded velvet pad with embossed scrolled foliate design; bcase is leather-covered wood , with medallion on obverse and reverse exterior covers and mother of pearl inlay; brass latch in tact; interior edge of case has gilded scroll; |
