Sixth-plate ambrotype, little girl sitting in child's chair, facing camera; hair is parted down the middle, combed down to the sides and cropped short at the earlobes, face is tilted down with eyes looking up at camera, back-fitted dress, plain fitted bodice with a wide neckline, cap sleeves tied up with satin ribbons that match satin ribbon at waistline, possibly edged in lace, skirt flared out, showing growth tucks and possibly a scalloped hem, left arm is resting along chair arm with hand gripping it, right arm is bent up and hand is gripping chair arm; nonpareil-style metal mat with leather-covered wood case with obverse [cover] section missing; case has a small nail with a small wire loop protruding from the top center; handwritten slip reads, "Minnie" Julie's 3rd child was tucked into the metal mat at bottom left; |
