K. reversed, hair cut short, beard, overshirt with slight v-neck, two white buttons visible, white shirt collar underneath, narrow bowtie, piping along the yoke and shoulders of the shirt, chausseur cuffs with piping, white gloves on hands, shirt tucked in, belt with dagger in it, standing at attention, rifle with bayonet leaning against left shoulder; man on the right wearing a kepi, hair cut short, clean shaven, overshirt with turned-down collar, shirt tucked in, powder horn in belt, wearing white gloves, rifle with bayonet leaning against left shoulder; white backdrop visible. Gilt mat embossed in foliate motif, preserver is stamped with simple scroll; red velvet pad in interior obverse [cover] section embossed with leaves and flowers motif, leather-covered wood case with embossed floral motif, gilt edging along interior and exterior edges of case, button clasp intact. |

Provenance |
Christopher C. Scott and Christopher Thrower were both from Arkansas. Christopher C. Scott was also the brother of Katherine Watkins Scott. He served with the Camden Guards through the Siege of Corinth, then returned to Camden to help organize the Appeal Battery. He rose to rank of Captain with that battery, was wounded while defending Vicksburg, was captured with his unit at Vicksburg, then served in Trans-Mississippi after his parole. |
