Sixth-plate ambrotype with applied color; two young children; to the left a baby boy is seated in a wooden child's chair, head slightly tilted to the left, looking at camera, hair parted on the right, cheeks tinted pink, high-waisted bodice with cap sleeves, long skirt, underskirt with lace edging, left arm at side, right arm on chair arm, left leg bent, left foot bare and hanging off chair seat, right leg hanging down with bare foot balanced on front spindle; to the right little girl, full standing, short hair parted down the center, head slightly turned to the right, eyes looking up and to the left, cheeks tinted pink, wide neck children's bodice, cap sleeves with bows and ruffled edging, waist below natural waistline, full skirt with two growth-tuck flounces, pantelets, shoes not visible, left arm extended behind behind baby's shoulders, right arm slightly bent at elbow with hand hanging in front to the right slightly below the waist, legs together standing straight; oval metal mat, thermoplastic union case, image side only; obverse case [cover] section missing; |
