Provenance |
Antebellum photograph of Andrew Johnston (or Jackson) Hoge, Corporal of Co. E, 4th Virginia Cavalry. According to the donor, this young man was photographed post-mortem by Alexander Gardner Studio at Gettysburg, most notably as the dead Confederate sharpshooter at Devil's Den. Subsequent research indicates this is highly unlikely, as Hoge's unit was not near Devil's Den. |
