Sixth-plate ambrotype with applied color of three individuals, two young women on either end, young man in center, seated, from knees up, facing camera, looking at camera; young woman proper right has hair parted down the middle, smoothed back with wings behind ears and covering the back of her neck adorned with a large ribbon or veil, long earrings tinted gold, lace collar with brooch tinted gold in center, bodice buttoned up the front, sleeves are dropped shoulders, long, full elbow sleeves with wide cuffs; belt at waist with decorative buckle, skirt possibly lighter color material than bodice, arms by side, left arm bent at elbow and forearm and hand resting on lap, right arm looped through young man's arm to her side, hand resting on his bent elbow; young man in center has hair parted on the side, cropped at ears, wave on top, standing collar with wide horizontal necktie, single-breasted jacket with narrow lapels and buttons up the front (buttoned), left arm slightly bent at elbow with hand resting on left thigh, young woman to the left has her arm looped through his, right arm bent at elbow with thumb of right hand tucked into jacket and fingers resting on top of jacket, young woman to right has her left wrist and hand looped though his right arm; young woman to the right has hair parted down the center, smoothed down and cropped at ears in blunt cut or in net, long earrings tinted gold, chain necklace tinted gold hanging around neck, wide oval-necked bodice, plain fabric with dark, sheer, pleated overlay material, brooch tinted gold pinned in the center, skirt same material as bodice with sheer overlay [?], pleated at the waist, right sleeve visible with double capped puffing and double row of lace edging, belt at waist with decorative buckle, right arm bent at elbow, hand extended across and placed on knee, bracelet on wrist tinted gold, rings on index and ring fingers tinted gold, left hand visible looped through and hanging from young man's right elbow; double-elliptical gilt mat, scroll motif stamped; preserver with stamped scroll design; leather-covered wood case with embossed geometric design; missing obverse lid/cover; brass latch hook intact; |
