The clock belonged to Judah P. Benjamin and was placed in his office in Richmond at the time of the burning of Richmond. Mr. George Washington Johnson, secretary for Judah P. Benjamin, saved the clock from the burning building. Judah P. Benjamin then gave him the saved clock. |
