Flag of an unidentified unit, Bragg's Corps. History unknown. Believed to be an unissued battle flag found in an attic of Miss Anna Gerould Blodgett in Franklin, New Hampshire, in the summer 1932. The donor did not know how it came into their family's possession; Miss Blodgett's father, Isaac N. Blodgett, was a judge on the New Hampshire State Supreme Court, but never served in a military capacity. Bragg's Corps battle flags were made by Henry Cassidy, a private contractor in New Orleans, Louisiana. A sail maker by trade, Cassidy made Louisiana stzte flags, large First National Confederate flags, and other flags for the Army's fleet of gunboats. He made more than 125 flags for the Western army and Bragg's Corps in three separate groups. This flag was part of the third group, which were rectangular with a wide pink border on all four sides, and bearing twelve six-pointed stars. |
