Provenance |
Lt. Col. John A. Graves used this sword and scabbard during the war. He was taken prisoner at the Battle of Gettysburg, and sent to Johnson's Island Military Prison, where he died of a stroke on March 2, 1864. Note: it is unlikely that Graves, an officer, used this bayonet. The accompanying scabbard was made for a M1840 cavalry saber. |
