Wade Hampton gave the sword and scabbard to him in March 1864 with the credit for saving Richmond from Union Gen. Kilpatrick's attack (February 28 - March 2, 1864). Sword manufactured by Kraft, Goldschmidt, & Kraft with imported German blade. |
