The buttons were on the uniform worn by Obediah Jennings Wise, Captain, Co. A, 46th Virginia Infantry. [In the 1905 catalog, the coat of O. Jennings Wise is listed as being in the museum. It is possible, and believed by some researchers, that the coat may have been in poor condition and subsequently destroyed, and the buttons the only surviving portions of the coat.] |
