Description |
Single box spur of either white brass or German silver with an iron rowel. Heel spurs connect to the heel of a boot or shoe. Box spurs have a projector or "key" from behind the neck that snapped into a spring-loaded box made into the heel. |

Brig. Gen. Turner Ashby wore this spur during the war. After Ashby's death, this spur was given to Pvt. Richard H. Horner, who was one of the first to sign up with Ashby's company. Horner helped carry Ashby's body off the field. |
