Description |
The badge is a length of orange silk ribbon with black markings. A woodcut engraving portrait image of a Confederate officer (possibly Lt. Col. Ridgely Brown) is printed on the upper part of the ribbon. Another woodcut image, of an obelisk-shaped monument, is printed on the lower part of the ribbon. "1st Md. Cavalry" is printed between the two images. "2nd MD. INFANTRY, C. S. A." is printed on the base of the monument image. "GETTYSBURG / NOV. 19, 1886" is printed below the monument image. |

William Indepedence Rasin owned this badge for a member of the 1st Maryland Cavalry, to wear at a reunion and monument dedication, held at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on November 19, 1886. The monument was dedicated to the 2nd Maryland Infantry, C. S. A., whose field officers were Lt. Col. James R. Herbert and Maj. William W. Goldsborough. |
