The necklace was made from buttons by Confederate POWs and was sold at a Confederate bazaar in Liverpool, England. Capt. Fitzhugh Carter of the Confederate States Navy purchased it and then gave it to Miss Alice Leigh of New York (formerly of Richmond, VA). |
