This is a strap from the knapsack used by Peter Guerrant, Jr. of Goochland County, Virginia, during his entire service in the Confederacy. He enlisted at the age of 17 years in the engineering corps; later served in the Goochland Light Artillery. He was a prisoner of war at Point Lookout from the surrender at Appomattox until June 1865. He died at his home in Goochland in July 1865. |
