Provenance |
Flag of the 4th Missouri Infantry. According to donor, was carried in Battle of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, March 1862; if so, would be one of earliest issued Van Dorn pattern flags. Owned in postwar years by Lt. Col. Waldo P. Johnson. The Van Dorn flags for the Missouri Brigade are believed to have been made in June 1862 by the ladies of Guntown, Mississippi. |
