This watch pocket belonged to Mary Johnston Black, the wife of Lt. Edward Black, a Confederate soldier of Blacksburg, Virginia. He carried her watch to war and was imprisoned at Ft. Delaware where the Federals took the watch from him. The pocket watch was never used again. Lt. Black gave it to his niece at the death of his wife. |
