Miniature flag. Carried by Lt. William Henry Keiningham, 1st Virginia Infantry, Co. D, in his pocket. He was forced to surrender flag when captured at the battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 1863. He was imprisoned at Johnson's Island. Northern prison officials returned flag to him when he was discharged shortly after the close of the war. |
