Model 1850 U.S. Staff and Field Officer's Sword: slightly curved single-edged blade with two fullers, etched with floral sprays, military trophies, eagle and "US"; hilt of gilded brass consisting of two branches filled with pierced floral designs and the letters "US", knuckle bow pierced for sword knot near pommel which is decorated with floral spray on the forward edge and shield, wood grips covered in shagreen and wound in twisted wire. Metal scabbard (.76a) with brass mounts. |
