"Revolver picked up on the battlefield of Olustee, Florida." The name "John Chestnut", which is scratched on the revolver, was the name of the donor's father, brother, and son, and is believed to relate to one of these individuals, not the original owner. The name "J. D. Jackson", carved in the grip, is possibly John D. Jackson, 2nd Florida Cavalry, who may have picked up the revolver at Olustee. |
