Two artillery shells from Dutch Gap. Wood may be from Libby Prison. This is the base to a map stand, or screen, made of various wartime relics. Created by Mann S. Quarles, teller in the Confederate States Treasury, in the 1890s. Described on label attached to stand as, "Mapstand made of: 1 U.S. 1842 .69-cal. musket; 1 U.S. 1863 .58-cal. musket; 2 Civil War bayonets; 1 Civil War sabre (possibly Confed.); 2 10-lb. Parrott shells." "Base of screen made of wood from Libby Prison. Musket on right from battlefield of Cold Harbor. Musket on left, battlefield of Seven Pines.
