Description |
The badge consists of a stamped brass rectangular bar pin, round white metal pendant, and a length of black satin ribbon with gold markings. The gold colored bar pin is stamped with top garlands and florals on the front and has a bottom slot for a ribbon. A clasp pin is soldered on the back of the bar pin. A black ribbon hangs from the ribbon slot and has brass wire attached to the bottom to suspend the silver colored pendant. The following is printed on the ribbon in gold, "WE / MOURN / OUR / CHIEF." The pendant is suspended from the brass wire by a brass ring. The obverse of the pendant has a relief portrait of Jefferson Davis in the center. "JEFFERSON" is in raised letters along the left edge of the pendant; "DAVIS" is in raised letters along the right edge of the pendant. The reverse has a relief image of the Lee Equestrian Monument in the center. The following inscription is around the perimeter, "IN MEMORY OF ROBT. E. LEE THIS STATUE WAS UNVEILED MAY 29, 1890." |
