Description |
A 3 part commemorative badge. The bronze bar-pin depicts the "CONFEDERATE MEMORIAL INSTITUTE" (these words are on a scroll at the top) which is also known as "Battle Abbey," and recently the Virginia Historical Society. Underneath the depiction are the words: "RICHMOND, VA." A bronze "ladder" bar with the words "COLOR BEARER" is connected directly to bar-pin. It, in turn, is connected to an oval shaped bronze and enamel medal. It depicts a Confederate soldier in full-frontal standing position with an enameled Army of Northern Virginia flag directly underneath him. The scroll that lines the bottom of the medal reads: "42nd ANNUAL REUNION (flag) U.C.V." On the back of the top bar-pin is a clasp and pin that attaches the rectangular fish tailed satin red and white striped ribbon. A newspaper photo clipping and picture postcard relating to this item and to TBMR-504 was removed from this (TBMR) collection and transferred to the library (Attn. John Coski) 12-9-2003. |
