Mrs. Lucy Lee Hill McGill and her spouse James McGill owned this silver tea service. Lucy Lee Hill McGill was the daughter of Gen. A. P. Hill; she was known as the "Second Daughter of the Confederacy." Her uncles were Gen. John Hunt Morgan and Gen. Basil Duke. Gen. Robert E. Lee was her godfather. This silver tea service was "Presented to Past Grand Commander James MacGill and Wife By Members of R E Lee Camp No. 1 C. V. Richmond, VA Nov 16, 1904" (inscription on tray). James McGill was Lucy Lee Hill's husband. |
